3D Printed 009 Scale Model Railways

Here are several 009 (1:76) scale vehicles. The motorised vehicles are designed for the commonly available Kato 11-103 and 11-104 chassis.

This is a locomotive inspired by Vale of Ffestiniog, a Bo-Bo locomotive which operates on the Ffestiniog railway in North Wales. It has been modified to fit the short Kato chassis, giving it a rather toy-like appearance.

Another vehicle based on the Ffestiniog Railway is this two door quarrymen’s coach. Three generations of rolling stock were used by the quarry workers to travel to work. This is the middle generation, which, unlike the first, has a roof and doors, however, the design has not yet advanced to include windows.

Finally, a selection of generic vehicles, not based on any particular prototype.

A basic saddle tank locomotive, which doesn’t look too far removed from the Talyllyn railway of North Wales.

Locomotives with tramway skirts, such as this one, are better suited to the limitations of a standard chassis.
