railway class > Class 197
The CAF-built Class 197 is a modern diesel multiple unit entering service on routes across Wales, rapidly displacing older units such as the Class 158.
Class 197 No. 197008 arrives at Abergele & Pensarn station on the North Wales Coast Line.

The guard waits for passengers to board, before closing the doors ready for departure.

An interesting blend of old and new, as the brand new 197008 departs Pensarn, passing the old signal box, which closed in 2018 with the transfer of signalling duties to the Wales ROC in Cardiff.

Calss 197 No. 197106 departs Conwy.

My first photograph of a Class 196. This class is almost identical to the 197, the main difference being that it is used in the West Midlands rather than Wales.
