YHA Whitby is next to the abbey and a stay at the YHA includes a ticket to visit the abbey. I visited the abbey on a grey morning, which later turned to rain, ideal conditions and subjects for black and white film photography.

Conditions improved later in the day and I walked along the promenade, where there were subjects more suited to colour photography.
