railway > Basingstoke Station
GWR operates a frequent service from Basingstoke to Reading, utilising some of their fleet of Class 165 ‘Turbo’ DMU’s.
South Western Railway operates Class 444’s on several routes through Basingstoke, not all of them stopping.
Class 70 No. 70007 slows to stop briefly at the station. There is just long enough to walk to the other end of the platform to photograph the locomotive a second time before the almost fully loaded train departs.
Class 159 No. 159105, still wearing the old, brighter South Western Railway livery, stands alongside Class 444 No. 444023. All four of the through platforms at Basingstoke have bidirectional signalling.
Another intermodal, this one headed by Class 66 No. 66554, passes through the station.
