First Great Western Class 166 multiple units

A mix of Turbo units, Adelante units, and HSTs operated Cotswold line services in 2016. In this photograph, Class 166 no. 166210 and another, unidentified unit, pass Lower Moor with a service for Worcester.

166202 passes farmland near Wadborough with a stopping service from Great Malvern to Westbury.

Perhaps not the most interesting shot; 166214 at a popular location, but it’s included for the perfect, sunny weather.

166205 takes the main line at Abbotswood Junction. Although this could easily be a scheduled passenger service, it’s actually returning from Long Marston depot to St Philip’s Marsh, following maintenance work.

Another photograph of a Class 166 at Defford, again only included for the perfectly sunny weather.

A different view for 166207, which is running along the embankment at Bredon on a sunny morning.

Back to Defford for another photograph of 166207. This section of line had only recently been cleared of vegetation, making this view available.

166218 is seen at Brockhampton Lane level crossing near Cheltenham in the warm light of an Autumn afternoon.

The bright headlamp of 166215 has added a starburst to this photograph. The feather signal just beyond the bridge is for Abbotswood Junction. The signal is at danger because 166215 has just crossed the northbound line in order to join the main line to head south to Bristol.
