Various main line railtours with a range of steam and diesel traction

Besford is always a popular location for photography. Most of GWR No. 5043’s train is obscured by smoke in this view.

‘Black Five’ No. 45212 puts on a fantastic display of smoke as it is still accelerating away from Abbotswood junction, several miles behind it.

No. 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’ had a busy programme of railtours in 2018. On this occasion in summer 2018, 47580 was used to provide extra power due the fire risk of a steam locomotive in the hot, dry weather.

DRS Class 57 No. 57002 and a rake of uniform blue & grey coaches fill one of my favourite views at Eckington in February 2019.

Here are two photographs from the same level crossing in Wyre Piddle. The lighting conditions were fortunate for both, as strong sunlight late in the day at this location would have cast shadows. Also, both are taken from the ‘wrong’ side of the line; had the sun been shining, its rays would have been illuminating the other side of the trans.
