This walk starts from YHA Ilam Hall, which occupies the remaining parts of a Victorian gothic mansion in the Peak District.

The route roughly follows the River Manifold, proceeding first along the northeast side of the river to Castern. Here is a barn on the route near Castern.

After visiting the village of Wetton and crossing the river, the route passes Beeston Tor, with this view of the caves.

The final landmark on this trip is Throwley Old Hall, a now dilapidated old manor house.
