On the way to a volunteer working party near Chester, I stopped at the fantastic Chester Zoo. The zoo is massive and well maintained. The animals have plenty of room in their enclosures, and all the zookeepers I saw really care about what they’re doing.

Though there wasn’t much time to stop and take photographs as well as getting around the whole site, here are a couple. These are the Humboldt Penguins, which can be seen swimming behind a huge glass wall.

The Rothschild’s Giraffes. Look carefully, there is one indoors.
